What You Need
To install and operate the CIA, you need the following items.
· Compass, V-Link, or
EZ-Mate software allows you to set up and upload/download the control panel’s
programming information.
· Telephone Cable – The
CIA is designed to operate over a standard telephone line through its telephone cable
connection.
· Serial Cable – Use a
serial cable to connect the CIA to a computer. The serial cable requires a 25-pin male D
connector on one end and a connector appropriate for your computer on the other. The cable
should have a metal shield to reduce the possibility of radio frequency interference. The
following are the critical pins on the CIA connector.
How to Install a CIA
1. Connect to a phone outlet:
A. Plug one end of the telephone cable into the LINE connector of the CIA.
B. Plug the other end into the telephone wall jack.
C. If you use a telephone on the same line as the CIA, plug one end of the
telephone cable into your phone and
plug the other end to the PHONE connector of the CIA.
2. Connect to a computer:
A. Turn the CIA and computer off.
B. Plug the male end of the modem cable into the female connector marked
RS232 on the back of CIA and tighten
