- FUNCTION KEYS
Functions button's available while in console mode. Panel programming determines each
buttons function.
- MASTER KEYPAD
The setup for this is different. You DON'T want to assign the AUI keypad address in device
programming to partition 9, the AUI doesn't like it. It you want to view all partitions
you must do the following. Have goto enabled for each partition and the code being used
will need to have access to the partitions that are to be viewed. Once this has been
completed the following procedure can be done to view partitions. Press Security from the
Home page. Press the icon in the lower left hand corner labeled P# (# meaning the
partition the keypad is assigned. The system will prompt for an access code, enter the
user code. All the partitions that the user code has been assigned will appear in block
form on the screen. If you want to log the keypad to a specific partition, simply press
the icon for the partition that is needed to be viewed. The keypad will log onto that
partition, so when you exit the partition view mode it will now be logged onto the
partition selected.
- NIGHT ARMING BUTTON
Night arming button can be set to arm the system in any of four arming modes: (Away, Stay,
Instant, and Maximum) and Night Stay if the panel supports this feature. *Away - When
selected arms all zones with entry delay. *Stay - When selected, arms perimeter zones with
entry delay. On polling loop family panels that support the AUI keypad, the Stay button
will follow the last mode of stay the panel was armed. Example: If panel is armed stay
mode 1, then the next time the panel is armed using the Stay key on AUI keypad the panel
will arm stay mode 1. *Instant - When selected arms perimeter zones without entry delay.
*Maximum - When selected arms all zones without entry delay. * Night Stay- zones in zone
list 5 will be active when panel armed Night Stay which is a feature of the 20p family
panels. On polling loop family panels that support the AUI keypad there is no Night Stay
arming. If the Night Stay button is programmed for stay, the Night button will follow the
last mode of stay the panel was armed. Example: If panel is armed stay mode 1, then the
next time the panel is armed using the Night button on AUI keypad the panel will arm stay
mode 1.
- ONE-BUTTON ARMING
Single button arming for Away, Stay, and Night modes. "Quick Arm"must be enabled
in panel programming, if not you will be prompted for a user code entry
- MESSAGE CENTERS
The number of messages is not limited however; the total time of all messages added
together cannot exceed 127 seconds. NOTE: The voice messages are stored in the memory of
the keypad. All messages will be lost if the keypad loses power or if it is reset.
- MANUAL OUTPUT ACTIVATION
The 20P family will show up to 16 programmed outputs on multiple screens (up to 6 on each
screen) including triggers 17 and 18. It will not show relay descriptors. The polling loop
family panel series will show all programmed outputs and descriptors on multiple screens
(up to 6 on each screen), total can be up to 96 outputs. NOTE: An earlier revision of the
keypad would only show a limited number of relays. NOTE: On the 20P family, if an output
is programmed for XX timeout, it will still display the "ON" and "OFF"
buttons on the screen. The polling loop family panel series will show an "ACTIVATE"
button.
- KEYPAD PANIC
There is a Panic key on the bottom of the 6270. When this is pressed the touchscreen
changes the display to show the keypad panic zones if enabled. Pressing one of the panic
icons for 2 seconds will activate the panic alarm. If being used on the polling loop
panels be sure to enable keypad panics in location *22
- OPERATING VOLTAGE
12VDC
- OPERATING CURRENT
Backlight Off and Sound Off = 180mA - Backlight On and Sounder Off = 190mA - Backlight On
and Sounder On = 280mA
- EVENT LOG
Ademco panels have the ability to record various events in a history log wherein each
event is recorded with the time and date of its occurrence. The control panel must be
programmed to record various system events in installer programming mode. On the 20P
family panel the event log will only show the Event Number (No event description) with
User number (No user name), or Zone number depending on the event. The polling loop series
panels will show the Event Description (No Event number) with the User name (If programmed
as a user on the keypad) or Zone number depending on the event.
- BACKGROUND DISPLAY
The background display on the keypad can not be changed.
- REAL TIME CLOCK
The only way to set or change panel time is when the user actually goes to the clock
setting screen and press the OK button. Other times, the keypad will get time from the
panel once per hour when connected to the 20p family panels. For polling loop family
panels, the keypad can not get time from the panel, and relies on the keypad local time to
update the clock on the keypad. NOTE: Some things that will make keypad reset the time: If
the unit loses power time will go back to default setting. If you download to the panel
the 6270 time DOES reset. If you upload the panel or event log it does NOT reset. If you
go into programming and make a change it DOES reset. If you go in/out and only view
programming it does NOT reset.

Never 30sec 1 min 2 min 10min If you select "Backlight always on", the life of
the back light will be 5 years. If the backlight is only used an hour or so a day, then
the backlight may last for a very long time.
- DEMO MODE
The Demo mode will show the functions of the keypad without being attatched to a panel. To
put the 6270 in Demo Mode Press: Security, More Choices, Setup, Advanced Setup, Central
Station, Options, Demo Mode. Code is 4140 Demo mode will show 3 partitions, 'Demo Main',
'Demo Grge', and 'Demo Util' In demo mode, you can use USER-CODE 1234 or 1111. 1111 is for
single partition operations so that you won’t see the 3-partition screen when you
disarm. To take keypad out of demo mode: To disable demo mode once enabled, be sure to
disconnect any data wires from the panel, power up, deselect demo mode, power down,
re-connect data wires, then power back up.
- DATE CODE LOCATION
The date code is located on the circuit board pirnted in black ink. There is a letter
which represents the year and a three digit number which identifies the day. Example: If
the stamped date code was A002, this board was manufactured on January 2, 1998. G= 2004 F
= 2003 E = 2002 D = 2001 C = 2000 B = 1999 A = 1998 Z = 1997 Y = 1996 X = 1995
- UNIFIED CODE SPEC
Allows user codes to be entered into the AUI which then propagate into the panel. Matching
user code will not have to be entered into 2 places (AUI or panel). NOTE** 128/250BP/FBP
and 50PEN stores the usernames which are stored in the AUI and can be uploaded/downloaded
via Compass. 10 User codes maximum in the AUI, Additional codes need to be added either in

You must enter the security screen for this information. when in chime mode, doesn't show
the zone number of the zone being faulted no way to initiate quick exit with exception of
console mode. Won’t show ac loss or low battery unless the security icon is pressed.
user codes are not downloaded into the 6270 when panel is download with compass. They must
